Network levels

To quickly see the arterial or distribution part of your network, you can include network levels for any asset in your GIS files.

Data you add to your files

GIS editor
Field Level or Category
Attribute Arterial / Distribution

How Qatium processes that data

We verify your data to preserve consistent network levels. Then we add that information to your network in Qatium, showing arterial and distribution levels on the map and the Network levels panel.

If not available, Qatium will calculate network levels based on pipe’s diameter. Qatium considers the diameter of each pipe and defines the 80th percentile:

  • Pipes below the 80th percentile are part of the distribution level.
  • Pipes equal to or above are part of the arterial network.

Then, it checks for network level consistency:

  • Every distribution pipe connected at both ends to arterial pipes is set to arterial
  • Every arterial pipe not connected to an arterial path leading to a supply source is set to distribution
  • Pipes connected to valves, pumps or tanks are considered as arterial regardless of their diameter (unless they are not connected to a supply source)

⚠️ Important: After downloading your network from Qatium, you’ll see network levels in the description field of the resulting .inp file.
