To provide you with a complete water management platform experience, Qatium processes multiple datasets from multiple data sources, like geographic information, asset information, hydraulic properties, historical and live readings, etc.
We use different technologies–AI, ML, genetic algorithms, hydraulic modeling engines, etc.–to extract, combine, validate, and analyze these datasets, allowing you to get easy access to insights tailored to your needs.
Network building
If you are wondering how Qatium transforms all your data into a digital replica of your network ready to operate, here’s how. We try our best to process all the information you upload into Qatium and to fill any gaps for you to work with the most accurate version of the network.
Once you’ve uploaded your files into Qatium, we run some checks to validate the data.
- Data filtering: we filter and discard any information that is not useful for the network.
- Objects without geometry
- Overlapping nodes
- Loop pipes and isolated junctions
- Elements not connected to a supply source or a tank
- Data validation: Qatium validates your data before creating a network from it, ensuring that it’s coherent. We'll read the layer attributes/properties and if they don't pass the validation stage, we’ll ignore them and replace the discarded values with default values.
- Data inference: we infer missing and/or invalid data with a series of calculated values.
After that, Q–our digital assistant–will give you support and provide you with information about your network. At that moment, you are ready to test different scenarios in a digital environment.
Similar to the physical network, you can continuously build, improve, and update your Qatium network. Whether new datasets became available, assets changed properties, the network expanded to new development, etc., we got your back. We have created a detailed guide on how to update all parts of your network.
Remember, the more data you upload into Qatium, the more complete your network will be. In this article, we teach you how to upload your files and build an ideal network to work with in Qatium.
Replicating your network behavior
With all the information provided, Qatium can create a digital network containing all the details about how your network elements operate, and ultimately how the water moves through your network.
Qatium uses a simulation engine that calculates the flows, pressure, tank levels, and asset operations in your network for an average day. With that, you can easily create and test different scenarios to answer what-if questions. For example:
- What happens if I need to maintain a pipe?
- What will be the pressures and flows in my network?
- Which area will be out of water?
- What if a valve is not operable, which valves are the ones I should operate instead and what is the impact on my customers?
- Etc.
Live data connection
Connecting your live data to your network in Qatium will create a more accurate network to work with. Qatium will keep the network updated with the readings and display a model accuracy score and a model deviation panel for each sensor type implemented. Both model deviation and model accuracy are indicators of the difference between the data received from the sensors and the calculated by the model.
