Energy efficiency

Available on Qatium Marketplace

The Energy efficiency plugin helps you identify energy inefficiencies in your networks.

It allows you to:

  • Think about the long-term operation and management of the network.
  • Test alternative network operation schemes to optimize energy usage and reduce loss.

The Energy efficiency plugin will show:

  1. The daily average efficiency score per water volume. This is the energy cost per m³ of water (kWh/m³) based on the total energy supplied (supply sources, pumps, and tanks) vs. the energy consumed over the whole day (customer points).
  2. A 24h graph showing the efficiency scores by hours. This helps you quickly spot energy consumption patterns. If there's a sudden rise or drop, you can check whether it's just a one-time event or part of a regular trend.
  3. A colored range of energy loss to filter map layers based on efficiency levels.
  4. A list of inefficiencies for each type of dissipating asset (pipes, valves, and tanks). Here you can see:
  • The energy lost by km/h
  • The energy demanded by pipe length (kW/km)
  • Critical inefficiency indicators: Assets that are highly inefficient now show both a halo on the map and an attention sign next to the asset ID.

To display the information about energy efficiency, switch ON and OFF the toggle bar at the top of the panel.

To show or hide the energy loss on the map, use the toggle at the bottom of the panel.

The map will highlight pipes ranging from red to green depending on the efficiency (1KWh being the highest range - 0.001KWh being the lowest). Valves and tanks are only highlighted when the inefficiency is critical (higher than 10KWh).

Combine this plugin with other tools in Qatium to test different scenarios based on the energy efficiency insights:
