Signal management

The new Signal Management tool is the place in Qatium where you can view, organize, and validate all the signals and readings connected to your water network.

It helps you understand how your real-world sensor data (from SCADA, AMI, or IoT systems) is being used in your Qatium model — and gives you full control of your sensor-to-asset connections, reducing back-and-forth with modeling teams and allowing faster data validation and troubleshooting.

If you have readings and/or live data and signals mapped in Qatium, with this feature you can:

  • Visualize all signals received in your Qatium network.
  • Check mapping status — see if each signal is correctly linked to an asset in your model.
  • Identify issues such as missing or invalid data.
  • Download and edit the mapping file (CSV) to update connections between signals and assets.

Heads up:
This is a beta tool in development, which means we’re continuously improving it and you might notice changes over time.
If you have any questions or suggestions, contact us anytime — we’d love your feedback.

You can access the Signal Management tool directly from the network card in Qatium.

Once inside, you’ll see two tabs:

  • Signal mapping
  • Incomplete readings

Signal mapping

Signal mapping defines how your real-world sensor data connects to the assets in your Qatium network — for example, which signal corresponds to which pipe, tank, or valve, and what property it measures (such as flow, pressure, or level).

Keeping your signal mapping file up to date ensures that:

  • Your model accurately reflects real operational data.
  • All readings are correctly associated with the right assets and metrics.
  • You can identify unmapped or invalid signals more easily.
  • Real-time and historical data are used effectively in your simulations.

This tab in the Signal Management tool shows all signals available in your network and how they are connected to the assets in your hydraulic model.

Here, you can:

  • View the list of all signals currently ingested in your network.
  • Check each signal’s mapping status (correctly mapped / not mapped or pending ).
  • See warnings about readings older than 7 days
  • Download the mapping file as a .CSV to review or update the mappings externally.

If you’ve downloaded and edited your mapping file (.CSV), you can upload it again to refresh your configuration and ensure that all signals are correctly linked.
The updated mappings will automatically replace your previous configuration in Qatium.

For detailed steps and .CSV format requirements, visit our full guide on how to map your signals and upload readings.

Incomplete readings

This tab lists any readings that couldn’t be processed because they’re missing required data or contain unsupported values.

You’ll see readings that:

  • Don’t include all the necessary fields (like time, asset, value, unit or metric).
  • Use an unsupported unit or metric.
  • Refer to an asset that no longer exists in the model.

Each row helps you pinpoint data issues so you can correct them in your files.

Quick tip:

  • You can sort the content in the tables using the arrows on each column, and search to quickly locate any data.
  • Click on the signal or asset ID to copy it.
